Oak Creek PTO partnered with with Funds2org in collecting gently used shoes. Organizations like Soles4Souls turn unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.
Did you know?
Textiles to include shoes and clothing represent more than 65% of content in our country’s landfill – while 70% of the world’s population would benefit from the use of repurposed shoes and textiles.
More than 767 million people in our world live on less than $2 a day. What most of them lack in money, they make up for in resilience and resourcefulness. They may feel discouraged and limited, but somehow they still manage to make do with what they have. Programs like this help individuals in developing countries by providing them with the means to become financial secure and stable.
Impacting the World
Created opportunities
Gently used shoes we collected got funneled to developing countries, where people could start small businesses to sell them. Your shoe donations mean a constant supply of quality product. This ensures these fledgling businesses can be sustained long-term.
Generated Income
By selling shoes, small business owners earn sufficient income to purchase necessities like food, shelter and education for their families – and people who need shoes the most can get them at a price they can afford.
Provide Relief
Funds generated through programs allow organizations like Soles4Souls to use 100% of donor contributions for direct assistance and disaster relief programs in all 50 states.
Environmental Impact
By collecting discarded shoes and clothing, organizations like Soles4Souls has kept 63 million pounds of textiles out of U.S. landfills, helping to preserve our planet for future generations.
