THE FOUNDING OF OAK CREEK ACADEMY

OUR HISTORY

After eight years as an educator, Tracy Hanson opened The Education Connection, a child development center for children six weeks to five years old. As Tracy took note of the increasingly changing needs of the children in her center, she realized she wanted to do more to provide non-traditional instruction for these exceptional students. Thus, Oak Creek Academy was founded as an inclusion school that provides a safe and encouraging learning environment where students can receive the extra support they need. Since 2013, Oak Creek Academy has dedicated its efforts to providing year-round schooling for exceptional children in the greater Killeen area. Getting away from the traditional school setting, our school allows students to grow academically at their level of learning!

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

Oak Creek Academy is providing an invaluable service to families in the Killeen and Bell County area. Did you know that as a non-profit 501c3, we do not receive any government funding for building maintenance, supplies, facility upgrades, education costs, or scholarships – and tuition alone doesn’t cover all of our costs. Which is why we need people just like you to help us make a difference in the lives of our special needs children. Many of the families with exceptional children who would benefit most from a non-traditional learning environment are unable to cover the costs of tuition. But with your help we can offer scholarships, cover educating costs and staffing, upgrade our building, and watch our amazing community grow.
