GETTING INVOLVED WITH OAK CREEK PTO
We know that due to recent mandates regarding COVID-19 that parents entry into the building is limited, but you still have an important role to play as an Oak Creek community member. Here are some ways to stay connected to the community during this time:
HOW TO GET INVOLVED:`
- Join the Oak Creek Academy PTO Facebook page.
- Attend any virtual PTO meetings.
- Stay up-to-date on current happenings at the school via the Facebook page or the website.
- Looking for more? Ask if there are any board positions open.
- Share our donations and campaign pages on social media or directly to friends, family, and co-workers.
- Help with our fundraising efforts and organization throughout the year to help us meet our goals.

If your are a parent of an Oak Creek student, then you are a member of our PTO!
The purpose of the Parent Teacher Organization is to encourage and nurture a strong sense of community within Oak Creek Academy. Teachers, parents, and staff can work together to make OCA a place of acceptance and inclusion for all our students. We help organize events such as Teacher Appreciation, Trunk or Treat, food drives, and more. The PTO also helps with fundraisers throughout the year, raising much needed funds that support school projects, activities, and daily operations.

GETTING INVOLVED WITH OAK CREEK PTO
Through on-going communication and engagement, our parents and teachers share in the responsibility to help our children learn and meet educational goals. Engagement happens when Oak Creek Academy teachers involve parents in school meetings and events – while parents volunteer their support at home and at school. It is a process of commitment. Parents commit to prioritizing their child’s educational goals, and teachers commit to listening and providing a space for collaboration with parents.
HERE ARE SOME WAYS PARENTS CAN HELP THEIR STUDENTS BE SUCCESSFUL HERE AT OAK CREEK ACADEMY:
- Send your child to school ready to learn.
- Encourage your child to get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and organize their items before arrival.
- Do your best to have your child arrive on time each day - this helps to minimize distraction in the classroom.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and keep an open line of communication with teachers (and therapists)..
- Support executive function and daily life skills learned at school by practicing at home.
- Make time each day to talk to your child about school, take an active interest in their learning.
- Get involved with our PTO and our Online Oak Creek Community.
- Ask your child's teacher what you can do at home to support educational goals and skills development.
